Statues Or Pigeons ?

This quote struck me like a thousand mega volt lightning. A pigeon is often seen sitting on statues, pecking at it, making the entire place dirty, and the poor statue can do nothing about it.  How many times in life, like the pigeon do we knowingly or unknowingly hurt other people, who cannot stand up for themselves? How many times are we hurt by others and just stand helplessly, or nonchalantly like a statue? Being statues with beating hearts when everything comes crashing down in life is an easy choice we make. However to follow Christ's example let us become people who although have been hurt by 'pigeons' in the past are stepping forward to clean off the dirt on the statues. The next time we see others being hurt by pigeons let us step in to shoo away those pigeons. But be aware as to not personify into those annoying pigeons ourselves.  Only Jesus can make us wholly clean so let us trust Him to heal our internal pain. No matter what people label us, or ridicule us, we n...

The Lonely Grey Cloud

A lonely grey cloud was seen roaming around the sky. The sky was radiant and blue. The grey cloud looked around in wonder as it was his first day in the sky. He was so tiny and small. He went to the sun but the sun spewed angry rays as soon as the cloud got close. The cloud flew as fast as he could and hid away.  Next the cloud went to the white clouds but as soon as he came close they just made fun of his dark color. They said you don't belong in the deep blue sky, and the tiny grey cloud felt so disheartened. It was his first day and he really was looking forward to make new friends. He was angry because he was made fun of and he puffed up.  As the day drew to a close, he was so sad that no one wanted to be his friend and he started crying. Big drops of tears fell and he cried his heart out. The stars woke up and saw the tiny cloud crying, they called him, he looked up and saw that they were pointing to the earth. He wiped his teary ey...

The Mist Of Life

The future we look forward to, Is like a fog, We may take the right rue, Or we may end up in a bog.  Life is like a mist,  Everything ahead may seem uncertain,  But it can change in a twist,  Like light streaming in through a curtain.  But even the thickest mist, Of doubt, hopelessness and grief, Can be pierced through, By the light of God's promises. At every crossroad of life we may feel like we are engulfed in a mist, just wishing and hoping that the decisions we took were right and if we should move forward or wait for the mist to clear. Asking Jesus to guide your decisions in life is a great way to clear that mist. Our God is leaning over to hear from you and be the beacon of hope in your life. Align the decisions of your life in accordance with His Word(the Bible) and see the mist disappear before your very eyes.  Credit- 'A rumour of sunshine' is a phrase taken from the novel Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which was the inspiration behind this blog post...

Hope And Love

In an ancient Greek myth, a young curious girl Pandora was given a beautiful box with a warning not to open it. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the box which released sickness, pain, death and all kinds of evil. After all the evil was released Hope and love also got out of the same box, to help people face the evils of the world. The current pandemic feels like something so evil was released from a box, but we need to remember that we have greater weapons with us which is hope and love. In these times we may feel helpless and as if everything happening around us is our fault  like Pandora felt after she opened the box, but we need to hold onto the hope, that God who has lead us this far, will be with us  to the end. We need to be givers of hope and love to all around as only those two virtues can heal this fractured world. As we are in this season of love let's keep in mind CS Lewis quote on love “Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the l...

From Your Valentine

'From your valentine' are three simple words that has continued to puzzle generations of people about its owner. Well the word Valentine also has some pretty puzzling history to it. According to history two people named Valentine were martyred on February 14th in 3rd century AD, by the then Roman Emperor Claudius. ( One is not documented in history, the other popular one is recounted here) St.Valentine to whom this day is associated refused to deny Christ, helped Christians escape torture from the roman prison and was thus beheaded. The first Valentine's Day was a day when a catholic priest was killed for showing compassion and love for his fellow Christians. It is also accounted that he healed the jailer's daughter. His love for them was  symbolic, as he showed Agape love ie sacrificial love for the prisoners. Jesus showed His love for us by sacrificing himself for us. As we celebrate this Valentine's day, let us not focus on the superficial elements like outer bea...

God.... Answers..... Prayers

I recently read this quote on twitter  And I thought that is so true, at least in my life. I was asking many people to pray for my sister to find the partner God had chosen for her, without actually praying about it myself.  I did this because there were just so many unanswered prayers piling up and everything was on the verge of tipping over. I was anxious, angry and bitter. My feelings overwhelmed me and I could do nothing but pray. I started praying earnestly not only for my needs but the needs of others as well and let me tell you God started moving in my life.  That is a cliche phrase but it is true. That day I learn't  God is always listening .  His move in my life wasn't like a fast car whooshing past, it was more like watching a slow motion video. Everything that I had hoped and prayed for many years took place each in to its own time and that was perfect. 1.God doesn't hurry  We keep hoping for things to happen according to our time but God does not...

A Future For Every Sinner

The world may condemn, Gossip and accuse you, For each  m istake, And every wrong turn. Learning through mistakes, Is what life is all about, (In theory) But many of us, Aren't given that learning chance. Every mistake,  Be it our fault or not, Feels like the end of the world, When it is actually a new beginning. All wrongs are pardonable, Whatever happened in the past, Shouldn't stop you from becoming, A  b etter person you can be. The social stigma, Can be overpowering, But remember your eternal  F ather, Is always there with you, through it all.  Jesus will never accuse nor condemn   you, because He has been through it all and feels your pain. He is a father who stays close even when we mess up. So in the midst of all the chaotic accusations, look up to the one who has chosen you when you were still a sinner.
