Are You Blessed?

The 2012 christian hit song 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman puzzled me greatly with its first line- 'Bless the Lord, oh my soul'. 'How can we bless the creator of the universe who has everything?' I thought. Up until then, the word 'blessing' to me just meant having God's favour, being prosperous, and fortunate.  All materialistic things- good health, financial steadiness, talents etc.  But the word 'bless' in the bible has three different meanings  i)To speak well of ii)To consecrate iii) To worship To bless the Lord means to praise Him and worship His holy name. So to bless someone means to praise them. Which implies that the commonest phrase "God bless you" can also mean that you need to have a character like Job's so that even God will boast about you to the devil.  Wait don't panic. This characteristic isn't a thousand miles away. For God to boast about you, you just need to reflect Jesus in your life. When God sees you, He n...

God's Best Creation - Mom

To the light that shines in every home,  And never fades out,  Even in the dreariest storm.  To the tree that holds strong,  And makes sure it brings rains, Even if it isn't watered a drop. To the pillar of iron, That we all lean on to, When we can hardly stand. To the moon that we turn to, That lights our path, In the darkest night. To the cascade we run to, At the end of our day, To replenish our parched souls. To the one person, Who was sent by God, To love and guide us always, Thank you dear Mother. Blessed Mother's day to all the wonderful women, who work so hard each day to provide for the family. You hear each one's complaint, but never complain yourself. Always giving and willing to run an extra mile for the family. I thank God for the wonderful blessing He has showered on mankind. I am able to stand on my feet today, because of my mother's prayer on her knees.  P.S - To all the mothers who have lost their children, may God provide you with solace and gi...

Do It Now !

How many of us have woken up with the will, all pumped up to do something good and make a difference? We wake up with the thought, but as the day progresses, the thought of change and goodness gradually goes to the back of our mind as we face our day head on. The thought does come back, but is now faced by a storm of rhetorical questions"What can I do?", "Who am I to help? I am not the right person, There will be many others to do it, I am a nobody" Like this days pass by, and we just slowly start existing purposelessly, instead of actually living. Every time the thought comes into our mind, to do something good, all we see, is the person in the mirror whom we have labeled as 'UNQUALIFIED'. We may not be able to become pastors, and preach the gospel to the world. We may not be selfless, qualified, rich, educated, or well versed in human psychology to make the change necessary in this world but let's strive to do what we can in our own small way.    God h...
