Living in the Light: A Journey of Redemption and Purpose

John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible, reminding us of God's profound love for the world. However, it's equally important to explore what comes after this verse, specifically John 3:17-21. Let's delve into these verses and uncover their profound message. John 3:17-21 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." Jesus: The Savio...

When God Surprises Us with More Than We Ask For

Can a doctor's appointment be a source of joy and nostalgia? For me, it certainly was when I visited my ENT doctor. I had been experiencing a persistent throat ache and had developed my own theories about "what might be wrong". I tried to calm my worries with God's Word. As I entered the doctor's room, memories from my childhood flooded my mind. It had been ages since I last went to that particular clinic. The ENT doctor is the exact embodiment of a Jolly Good Fellow, and it was lovely to see him again.                I explained my symptoms to the doctor, and he quickly examined me with his torch and eyeglasses. He diagnosed the issue and treated it promptly. Out of habit, he also checked my ears and nose, declaring everything clean. I recalled a previous visit when he humorously described my ears as having "cats and dogs" due to the amount of ear wax. After the treatment, we had a pleasant...

Syncing News and Prayer

It has been nearly four years since I last picked up a newspaper, but in the past month, I decided to take up the habit once again. This return reminded me of the reasons I had initially given it up: the hurt, the hypocrisy, and the overwhelming deluge of information that often felt more like "infotainment" than actual news. Some days, the pain and suffering depicted in the articles were so overwhelming that I struggled to finish reading. I worried that I would become desensitized, reducing extraordinary tragedies to mere phrases like "it's normal" or "that's life." In moments of despair, I turned to Psalm 55:22, which says, "Cast your burden on the Lord..." and I endeavored to do just that. A Divine Perspective      The Lord is always faithful, and He gently reminded me that each article in the newspaper represents real people—individuals for whom Jesus Christ, our Savior, sacrificed His life on the cross. Each person, whether a vic...

Riding out the storm with Jesus

I was complaining about the cold last year and my host father told me about this German quote " es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur falsche Kleidung"  that translates to "There is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing." Then I researched and found out that the original was a Norwegian quote " Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlig klær! "      The quote in itself just talks about the right clothing for the right weather but this got me thinking as to how this aptly describes my spiritual life as well. When the storms of life hit me, I was not ready for it. Till date, I still complain not knowing that I'm not wearing the right clothing to face that weather.       Am I equipping myself with the word of God on a regular basis? Do I turn to Jesus  first when things go wrong or do I rely on my wisdom, or on google to help me out?      I take big things to God but what about the small things I feel I can...

My Eternal Be-all and End-all

Utterly lost in this world, For the very first time, Didn't know where to turn or where to go, Every time I thought I reached my destination, It was further away, In desperation I called out to Him, And He showed me the way. Minutes turned to hours, then days, Guilt brimming in my chest, Knowing I was wasting, What the world was trying to buy, Life flashed before me on a rainy day, And I knew then that could have been the end, But He saved me and gave me another chance. Thought I was an open book, So easy for anyone to read, But like everyone I had my deceits, fears and vanities, He knew me for who I was, He had seen me when I was alone, Yet He chose to love me, Fulfilling even my insignificant desires. Everything remaining perfect, Just as it was meant to be, Every trial and trouble deflected, Covering me with His shield, Wondered why instead of overflowing with gratitude, Still pondering yet filling with the hope, That nothing is or will ever be too great for Him. Who is He? He i...

Change Our World!

The great big Earth, Is too huge to  fathom , And its inhabitants so varied to  comprehend  . 'Change the world' is the slogan, And each blamed the world, For not changing around them. To change the world, We must first initiate it, A tiny gesture amongst our own loved ones. The whole world may be too hard, But changing how each person treats the next person, Can positively impact the world at large. Making the world a better place has been the vision for centuries. But everything happening around us discourages us to believe that something like that so phenomenal can happen to heal our broken world. Tell your loved ones, people you meet not about the flaw or wrong they've done but appreciate them for all they've done right. Pray for all the people in authority to be blessed with Godly wisdom to lead His people in the right path. And lastly find out your own passion, your purpose which can be instrumental as the church of Christ unites to change the world at large. Let...

Friends - Candles of Life

Friends are Candles, Who are there for us, When the current of our life, Suddenly shuts down. They shine bright, In our darkest moments, But when the sun rises, Make sure not to push them away. They provide an aroma, That can lull the anxious soul, And heal a broken heart, With just one deep breath. But beware their ornamental beauty, Which makes one fall, For the pretense of their utility, Deserting us in utter darkness. Be grateful for their true incandescence, And let's not be the ones, Who realize their worth, Only when they're blown out. Friends may not always be who they say they are as everything in life is basically trial and error. But once we get hold of the real deal, lets make sure not to push them away by petty things like ego and money. Materialistic things vanish away but relationships that we build stay. When everyone you know in life seems to have deserted you, you can rely on Jesus, your eternal friend.  May this friendship's day be a day when we take a mo...
